Former nurse pleads not guilty to filing false report

A former nurse pleaded not guilty to filing a false report on the death of an inmate in the Anderson County jail.
The district attorney said in 2012, Billy Joe Brockman filed a report claiming that he checked the inmate's vital signs, when he actually had not checked them. Officials said the inmate appeared to be drunk and high when he was booked and later died in custody.
Brockman was an employee of a company that provides medical services for the jail.
Brockman appeared in court Monday where he pleaded not guilty to that charge.
