East Tenn wakes up to some snow, a little black ice

Update 8:43 a.m.

Snow and ice covered mainly secondary roads Friday morning. Crews had worked into the night covering main roads and highways with salt.

The following is a list of East Tennessee and southern Kentucky counties with respective road conditions. This list will be updated throughout the morning.

Thursday: Rain moving in during the morning hours and continuing into the afternoon. Rain is then expected to change to light snow by mid-to-late afternoon as temperatures start to fall. A light accumulation or dusting is possible Thursday night with some icy or slick roads possible. Highs in the lower 40s, but falling to near freezing by evening.

Gun season for deer opens Saturday

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Gun season for deer opens Saturday and runs through Jan. 5.

According to the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, hunters may harvest one antlered buck per day until the statewide bag limit of three is reached, which includes deer harvested during archery and muzzleloader seasons. An antlered buck is a buck with antlers at least three inches long.

Oak Ridge residents are encouraged to dispose their unused medicine this Saturday at Operation Medicine Cabinet.  The Oak Ridge Police Department along with Allies for Substance Abuse Prevention of Anderson County will host the event as part of a continued effort to reduce drug abuse and practice stewardship toward our environment.
