3 arrested with 15 pounds of pot, weapons

Police arrested three people after they raided a home in Oliver Springs for drugs on Sunday.

William Phillips, 44, Hannah Phillips, 22, and Benjamin Davis, 21, were transported to Roane County Jail and are facing drug and weapon charges.

Inside the residence at 809 Wilson Road, officers seized nearly 15 pounds of marijuana, 13 firearms, several boxes of ammunition, 2 homemade silencers, 2 vehicles, equipment used to grow marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Clinton Fed Ex driver was delivering drugs along with packages

The Campbell County Sheriff said the arrest of a Fed Ex delivery man came after accusations that Dabney peddling narcotics as well as packages.

Sheriff Robbie Goins said undercover investigators arranged to meet with Chris Cole Dabney, 47, of Clinton, to buy drugs.

Officers arrested Dabney on the spot.  He admitted to being in possession of narcotics and distributing them while on his FedEx route, twice a week for an undetermined amount of time.

In the delivery van, police found cash and what they think are morphine pills.

According to court records, the Anderson County criminal court handed down a judgement against Randall A. Chisum September 4, 2012.

Chisum had resigned from the police department in May of 2011 after being confronted by Chief Scarbrough and another officer.  Scarbrough and the officer confronted Chisum when the mother of a 17-year-old girl told the chief that her daughter had been communicating by phone and/or computer with Chisum.

Anderson Co. scammer claiming to be member of fire department

The Anderson County Sheriff's Department is warning the community that someone is posing as a member of the fire department in an attempt to scam money from homeowners.

Officials say the scammer went door-to-door on Old Edgemoor Road trying to solicit money by telling the residents that if they do not pay, the fire department will not respond if there is a fire.

Two residents reported the scammer. The residents say they did not pay him because they thought the situation was suspicious.

DA: Anderson deputies justified in using deadly force in fatal shooting

The investigation into a fatal shooting of two suspects by a pair of Anderson County deputies is closed, and both the TBI and the District Attorney General's Office have determined that the officers acted appropriately and should be commended for their actions.

The outside investigation was requested by Anderson County Sheriff Paul White after the shooting, which happened on February 29.

3 accused of breaking into Y-12 ask for trial delay

Three nuclear weapons protesters who are accused of breaking into the Y-12 security complex are asking for more time before their trial starts.

Michael Walli, 63, Greg Boertje-obed, 57, and Megan Rice, 82, a Catholic nun, are asking for an extentsion of their pretrial deadlines and a new, later trial date.

Attorneys for the three argue a delay is needed because of international media attention and the case's complexity.

Lake City Police investigate shooting

Lake City Police are investigating a shooting, and they're working with very few leads about a possible suspect.

The call came Thursday afternoon at the intersection of US 441 and Railroad Avenue.

Authorities say Scotty Tackett, 29, was shot once by the suspect.

He was able to drive to Campbell County before calling for help.
A helicopter flew him to UT Medical Center.

There's no word on Tackett's condition.

Authorities say they're working on a description of the suspect.
