Y-12 and Oak Ridge are in Fleischmann's Congressional district.

Wednesday, federal authorities gave the okay to restart nuclear operations at the complex after nearly two weeks of stand down.

Mercedes pulled from Melton Hill Lake

Crews have pulled a Mercedes from a popular Oak Ridge lake.

Oak Ridge Police Chief James Akagi says they discovered the car in Melton Hill Lake Wednesday after they pulled a submerged church bus out from the water Tuesday.

Crews found the bus in the lake off Edgemoor Road near Highway 62.

Police say they don't know who owns the Mercedes, and the investigation is continuing.

Clinton apartment fire displaces 9 families

An investigation is underway surrounding a Clinton apartment fire.

The fire started overnight at an out-building at the Ridgetop Apartments, and it spread to the main building.

Luckily, it only damaged one apartment before crews managed to put out the flames.

Nine families were displaced from the building, and right now, the investigation's been turned over to the Clinton City Police Department.

tnAchieves now accepting applicants, mentors for upcoming year

As many high school seniors begin to prepare for college, one local scholarship program is gearing up for a higher number of applicants this year.

"tnAchieves" provides assistance to public school students who continue their education at a community college. In East Tennessee, those schools include Pellissippi State Community College, Roane State Community College, and Walter State Community college.

The "last dollar" scholarship provides funds to cover whatever tuition costs remain after financial aid and other scholarships.

Oak Ridge K-25 site preservation confirmed

Oak Ridge K-25 site preservation confirmed

Department of Energy officials celebrated the completion of a formal agreement to preserve parts of the K-25 uranium enrichment site in Oak Ridge Friday.

The multi-million dollar plan includes the preservation of the concrete footprint of the u-shaped building and construction of a replica of the gaseous diffusion technology, which will house some of the original equipment used.

The plan also includes a K-25 history center which will be housed on the second level of the fire station owned by the city of Oak Ridge.

Clinton police train for school shooting scenario

With students returning to school in Clinton this week, local law enforcement is training to keep the schools safe.

On Thursday, the Clinton Police Department conducted training exercises to prepare officers for a school shooting scenario.

"We're doing practical exercises where officers are on patrol, [and] dispatched to the school under a suspicious person," said Clinton Police Chief Rick Scarbrough.
